A meeting of the National Commission on the Crimean Tatar Language was held under the chairmanship of Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The meeting was attended by the co-heads of the National Commission, the Permanent Representative of the President in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov, as well as representatives of state bodies and linguists from educational institutions.

Currently, the Commission’s priority is to teach children in the Crimean Tatar language and to train personnel for the educational process.

In particular, a textbook on the Crimean Tatar language and literature for grades 5 and 6 is already being prepared for publication, and the 10th grade is next in line.

In addition, the first future specialists have already begun to study the Crimean Tatar language at the Faculty of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

“We are currently making every effort to ensure that Crimean Tatar children can speak the language of their parents and that Ukrainians are involved in learning it. We will not allow the Crimean Tatar language to disappear. Its development is important for Ukraine,” emphasized Iryna Vereshchuk.
