Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk announced during a national telethon. She explained that these are the settlements of the frontline regions as defined by the relevant order of the Ministry of Reintegration.
Iryna Vereshchuk stated that depending on the location of the settlements, people would be given cash to buy firewood or have it delivered to their homes. The Ukrainian State Forest Resources Agency and Ukrzaliznytsia are currently developing delivery routes. They will focus on assisting the most vulnerable groups, which include women with children, individuals with mobility issues, and those who live alone.
“I want to thank Ms. Denise Brown, the UN Coordinator in Ukraine, for her job. This year, our foreign partners and we agreed that the Ukrainian government will focus on security and defense spending, while international donors will increase their spending on firewood. The amount of these needs is 2.6 billion UAH out of 5 billion UAH for the winter”, the Vice Prime Minister summarized.
