Children who come back from TOT or russia need special care, and support from psychologists and case managers. The Ukrainian Child Rights Network, which is partnered with the Ministry of Reintegration, and Save the Children, an international humanitarian organization, have shared guidelines on identifying post-traumatic stress disorder in children and what to do once it is recognized.

Signs of PTSD:

– aggression, depression, hyperactivity, and irritation;

– impaired memory and concentration can lead to difficulty performing routine tasks;

– increased anxiety, drowsiness, or insomnia.

What to do?

  • Take care of your mental well-being. Being too emotional in response to your child’s story might scare them.
  • – Don’t hide what happened. Avoiding it can cause extra mental health issues.
  • – Pay attention to your child’s emotions and seek timely help from qualified professionals.
