The Government approved the changes on November 10th, following the initial All-Ukrainian Forum of IDP Councils that took place from November 1st to November 3rd, 2023.
The proposal aims to ensure the rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons by involving the heads of IDP councils from all regions and the city of Kyiv in the Coordination Headquarters through an agreement.
The leaders of the councils will share their proposals for developing policies and creating regulations. Every week, a representative from one of the regions will present a report to the members of the Coordination Center.
IDP Councils advocate for the rights and interests of IDPs. They lead changes in supporting and protecting IDPs, promoting their full integration into communities.
“The leaders of councils for internally displaced persons have a huge responsibility. They speak on behalf of five million citizens,” stated Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
