On December 1, the International Red Cross suspended the membership of the Belarusian Red Cross because of a leader who illegally brought Ukrainian children to Belarus and visited the occupied Donetsk region.
An investigation by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies concluded that the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross, Dmitry Shevtsov, had violated the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement.
Thus, as of December 1, the Belarusian Red Cross will lose its membership rights. Any new funding for the organization will cease. It will not be able to participate in the organization’s General Assembly, nor will it be able to vote or be elected at any statutory meetings.
