Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk chaired the meeting, which representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Infrastructure, and the State Employment Center attended.

The meeting aimed to agree on the provisions of the proposed Government Resolution to continue to make payments to vulnerable internally displaced persons.

The Vice Prime Minister initiated this project to support the most vulnerable categories of IDPs who have been granted state aid for accommodation until August 1, 2023.

The situation is critical. Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 709 of July 11, 2023, states that payments to some IDPs will stop from February 1, 2024.

Proposals for an automatic six-month extension of payments to IDPs were also under discussion:

– Individuals who are unable to work or retired individuals with low pensions;

– Individuals with disabilities or individuals who care for a child with a disability;

– Orphans and children without parental care.

Proposals for the extension of assistance payments to vulnerable categories of IDPs upon the submission of a new application have been discussed.

“We must support internally displaced persons. However, we should approach the issue of continuing payments to IDPs with caution. Our state aid should be focused on those who need it most,” emphasized Iryna Vereshchuk.
