The event is part of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.

Today, on May 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a welcoming address to the Summit participants. The meeting was attended by Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine; and Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Additionally, the event will be attended by delegates from Europe and the United States, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, and Ukrainian local communities.

The Summit program includes thematic panel discussions. Iryna Vereshchuk, Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, will moderate the discussion on “Internally Displaced Persons: A Humanitarian Challenge.”

The program for the event will also include discussions on the following topics:

• “Recovery and development of communities and territories during the war and in the post-war period.”
• “European integration of Ukraine: achievements, challenges, and prospects.”
• Rehabilitation of war victims: medical, psychological, and social aspects.

New cooperation agreements between Ukrainian and foreign cities, regions, and organizations will be signed. Memorandums of international medical partners will also be signed.

The Second International Summit of Cities and Regions will result in a declaration.
