Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said this on Suspilne TV.
The official raised this issue at a meeting of the Evacuation Coordination Centre in Kharkiv.
“Sometimes pets aren’t allowed in dorms. Or owners are separated from their pets. Some people won’t leave dangerous regions because they don’t want to leave their animals behind. We must work together to find a solution,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
She requested that local authorities allocate dormitories where people can live with their pets and that pet enclosures be set up near institutions where IDPs already live.
“Let’s collaborate on this issue. It is not an option to simply abandon pets or separate them from their owners,” concluded Iryna Vereshchuk.
