In January 2024, local budgets received an extra UAH 59.9 million to help with the cost of housing internally displaced people.

This was reported at a meeting of the IDP Rights and Freedoms Coordination Headquarters, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

These are municipal institutions, state educational institutions that have been transferred for funding from local budgets, and jointly owned institutions of territorial communities of the region and district managed by regional and district councils.

It should be noted that the government allocated these funds from the reserve fund of the state budget. By the relevant order of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Reintegration directed them to local budgets to pay compensation to institutions that sheltered IDPs.
