Since the start of the Russian invasion, children from frontline settlements have spent between 3,000 and 5,000 hours in bomb shelters. The UN Office in Ukraine has published this on its website.

Schools have been forced to use online learning or hold it in basements because of the war. This is especially true in the frontline regions.

The UN says that almost 1 million Ukrainian schoolchildren were unable to attend full-time classes this school year.

The United Nations in Ukraine is working in collaboration with partners to assist Ukrainian children. In 2023, the UN provided education services to over 2.5 million children and teachers.
