In October 2022, the Russians took 46 children from an orphanage in Kherson. They were taken to Simferopol and distributed between two orphanages.

The New York Times investigation revealed this.

The perpetrators acted on Putin’s orders to make it easier for Ukrainian children to become russian citizens.

Just seven of the 46 children who were taken ended up going back to Ukraine. Tragically, one of them died. 19 months on, the children have grown up, so it’s difficult to identify them.

The Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Putin and the Russian Ombudsman for Children’s Rights. They are accused of illegally removing children from orphanages across Ukraine.
