At a weekly meeting on veterans’ policy, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, the issue of obtaining documents by family members of fallen defenders and veterans was on the agenda.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the General Staff, the Central Military Medical Commission (CMC), and other relevant agencies.

The issue is that it can take more than six months to get the status of family members of fallen defenders and war veterans. This means that families cannot receive social benefits and privileges.

The main reason for delays is that the documents needed to grant this status are not always readily available.

This is because some regional labor courts are dealing with a lot of these documents. They’ve decided to hire more staff to help out.

Also, agencies need to work together more and make things simpler.

“The families of our heroes are facing many difficulties. These problems need to be resolved immediately,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
