Today, Iryna Vereshchuk, Vice Prime Minister, led a meeting of the Commission on International Humanitarian Law.
The group talked about how to apply IHL in secondary and higher education institutions.
The IHL Summer School results were also presented.
The Vice Prime Minister said that IHL issues are important for Ukraine because russia is attacking Ukraine.
The official told the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to count the number of students in higher and secondary education taking courses with IHL elements, make recommendations for the curriculum, and check the qualifications of teachers teaching these courses.
“First, we need to develop educational programs that include elements of IHL and to understand the qualifications of teachers so that in the future international humanitarian law becomes part of compulsory education,” said Iryna Vereshchuk
