The NIB representative meets with the families of missing and captured soldiers

Svyatoslav Lyndyuk, legal counsel for the National Information Bureau, participated in a meeting with the families of missing and captured defenders from the Territorial Defense Forces. The event was held at the Ombudsman’s Office.

The following representatives were in attendance: the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Department of the National Police, the ICRC, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They answered questions from the relatives of the defenders.

They talked about the following:

– ICRC activities and lists.

– russia violated international law. They tortured prisoners.

– Military chaplains’ role in working with exchanged defenders.

– Talking with Ukrainian police investigators.

– Making exchange lists and other issues.

The NIB representative told the audience that the bureau gathers information about Ukrainian captivity from various sources, including the ICRC, photos/videos from captivity, released prisoners’ testimonies, military unit notifications, and letters from captivity sent through the ICRC.
