The Government made a decision today. People living in areas where military operations are happening right now or have happened recently can get free wood for their homes. This is wood that’s left over after trees have been cut down.

Please note that harvesting will only be permitted in the respective forest areas if it is safe to do so.

Local military administrations (local self-government bodies) will disseminate information to the public regarding the potential for independent logging operations.

This provision will remain in effect for the duration of the legal regime of martial law and a period of six months from the date of its termination or cancellation.

The relevant act was developed by the Ministry of Ecology on the instructions of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal following his working visit to the Donetsk region. It also fulfills the protocol instructions of the meeting on humanitarian response in the Kharkiv region, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
