Today, the government-controlled territory returned the bodies of 250 defenders.
The bodies were repatriated with the assistance of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Commissioner for Missing Persons in cooperation with the Joint Center at the SBU, the Central Military Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, departments, and international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross.
By the Geneva Conventions, the transfer of the bodies of fallen soldiers is conducted.
The repatriated bodies and remains will be transported to the relevant state institutions. The victims will be identified by law enforcement officials and forensic experts.
The bodies of the defenders will be handed over to their families for burial.
