A regular meeting of the Commission on International Humanitarian Law was held under the chairmanship of Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk. The conference addressed the issue of compliance with international humanitarian law (IHL) by the Ukrainian side in the hostilities in the Kursk region of the russian federation.
A representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed the participants of the meeting about establishing a military command and its role in ensuring law and order in government-controlled areas. He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are providing the local population with water, food, medicine, and medical care.
The meeting participants emphasized that Ukraine pays special attention to compliance with international law. To this end, military personnel have been trained in the application of international humanitarian law.
The International Committee of the Red Cross was represented at the meeting of the IHL Commission.
“The Ukrainian side is committed to adhering to the standards set forth by international humanitarian law throughout operations in the Kursk region,” Iryna Vereshchuk affirmed.
