The government has adopted a resolution on providing meals to primary school students in 2024.
The Ministry of Education and Science created the draft as part of a school feeding reform in Ukraine started by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
The act allows the government to give UAH 2 billion from the state budget to local budgets to provide school meals for children in 2024. This will help feed almost 800 thousand primary school students (grades 1-4).
This support will help communities provide students with proper nutrition at school.
The resolution was adopted as part of the School Nutrition Reform Strategy for the period up to 2027. This provides for children in educational institutions to have balanced and high-quality nutrition.
