This is how the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk described the situation in the seaside city in the interview with the French newspaper Liberation.

«This is Putin’s personal revenge on the people of Mariupol – after he did not capture the city in 2014 – the official said. – If he had a willing, the Mariupol humanitarian corridor would already be open».

According to her, nothing is stopping the russians now. They continue to destroy hospitals, the theater, where civilians hid from the fire – including children – mosques, churches. This shows the russian dictator’s disregard of international humanitarian efforts and reflects the weakness of the world community.

«The situation with humanitarian corridors in other areas is also difficult. russian and Ukrainian commanders do not communicate with each other. The mediator is the International Committee of the Red Cross. We are organizing corridors, and the Red Cross must coordinate them. There are some difficulties with this, as the columns are regularly under fire» – said the Deputy Prime Minister.
