This decision was made today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Coordination Center was established in March last year to coordinate the actions of executive authorities and local governments in protecting children’s rights under martial law.

The government has expanded the list of functions of the Coordination Center. From now on, the body:

– coordinates the actions of the authorities aimed at promoting the integration of children evacuated from the dangerous territories of Ukraine at the new place of residence;

– monitors the observance of the rights of internally displaced children;

– coordinates actions on returning children forcibly displaced to the temporarily occupied territory or the territory of Russia or other countries back to the territory of Ukraine.

“It is important that our children are safe after being evacuated from the war zone. They must be provided with proper living, educational and psychological rehabilitation conditions. In addition, many children were forcibly deported by the aggressor. In this matter, the Ukrainian authorities must establish a clear mechanism of cooperation for their immediate return. All institutions from the local level to the level of international organizations should be involved in this process. This is exactly what the Coordination Center will focus on,” emphasized Iryna Vereshchuk.
