During a working visit to Kharkiv region, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk got acquainted with the work of the regional psychological assistance service for the population of de-occupied communities.
The service was launched on March 1st as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska in partnership with the Ministry of Reintegration, Kharkiv Regional State Administration and volunteers, with financial support from the governments of the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Switzerland and Finland.
The newly created psychological service operates as part of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Social Services. As of today, the service team has already established work in Kharkiv and in 12 communities in the region (Merefa, Chuhuiv, Malynivka, Slobozhanske, Zmiiv, Izyum, Oskil, Pervomaisk, Lozova, Mala Rohan, Sakhnovshchyna, Balakleya). Mobile groups of psychologists work on a daily basis in the region.
“Psychosocial assistance is not only about the health and resilience of the nation. Sometimes timely and professional psychological help saves lives, especially in times of challenges like now,” Iryna Vereshchuk noted on social media after visiting the service.
The official thanked everyone who contributed to the launch of this important project. She also called on all regions to launch similar projects.
“Let’s build projects in the quadrangle: Government, regional authorities, volunteers, and international organizations. It works!” Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized.
