The hotline of the Ministry of Reintegration receives appeals from citizens who are refused to exchange foreign currency banknotes with signs of wear or old issue years.

In this regard, we are publishing clarifications of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The National Bank emphasizes that it has not imposed any bans on foreign exchange transactions with old banknotes. Authorized institutions are obliged to exchange the US dollars of the 1996 series and those issued earlier if they do not show signs of wear or have acquired one or more indications of minor wear during circulation.

If a bank refuses to exchange currency due to an old issue year, the National Bank is ready to accept applications from citizens for exchange.
