A group of deputies registered in the Verkhovna Rada draft law No. 9423 “On State Veterans’ Patronage Service”.
As noted in the explanatory note to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to establish a State Veterans’ Patronage Service to organize the process of post-war adaptation of demobilized servicemen to civilian life. Based on a public-private partnership, it will operate for 5 years.
The legislative initiative proposes to create the institution of patronage assistants and to define their responsibilities.
Specifically, they:
- will provide administrative, social, and economic reintegration, psychological adjustment, education, treatment, and rehabilitation assistance to each soldier assigned to them;
- develop and monitor the implementation of an individualized program for the adaptation of each demobilized soldier to civilian life;
- will accompany many demobilized soldiers as they adjust to civilian life.
