Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk made the announcement on “Suspilne” TV. She clarified that during an event in Ivano-Frankivsk, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called these issues a priority. Especially in light of russia’s ongoing missile terror against our energy infrastructure.
According to her, this is the second time that Ukraine is preparing for winter in the context of a full-scale war. Therefore, the Congress discussed assistance to local authorities for the successful completion of the heating season, as well as possible options for increasing the number of facilities that can be used as civil defense shelters.
“We do not expect a large migration next winter. However, we are preparing for the possibility that the enemy may shell our energy infrastructure and civilian facilities. In such a case, the government has provided additional places for IDPs in relatively calm regions that can accommodate them. For example, there are already more than 20,000 such places in Transcarpathia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Ternopil regions. The President also set a clear task: to prepare the shelters. The government is ready to do everything necessary to make the shelters operational,” the Vice Prime Minister concluded.
