A pilot project is underway to introduce the institution of a veteran’s assistant. The first two groups of assistant candidates are already being formed in the Vinnytsia and Mykolaiv regions. In a few days, they will begin training at the Veteran Development Centers. The Department of Veterans Affairs reported.

 

The training takes three weeks. Candidates then take tests and receive certificates based on their results. They are then placed in the service offices of the communities participating in the experiment and assigned to an assistant.

 

At the end of August, the first assistants will begin helping veterans transition from military service to civilian life.
