How can managers create a positive team atmosphere?

The recommendations were developed as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How Are You?” with the support of First Lady Olena Zelenska. The aim of these measures is the maintenance of the moral and psychological state of the employees during the work process.

Here are some of them:

  1. Post information about mental health support services in the office.
  2. Have an open-door policy, so people can share their concerns with you or colleagues.
  3. Do not ignore team conflicts. Respond quickly and participate in resolving them.

Remember that it’s not just what you say that affects a person, it’s also the tone of the conversation. Your tone and gestures can make an employee feel safe or insecure.

Therefore, pay attention to the following characteristics of communication with subordinates:

  1. Always say hello and show interest in their business and health.
  2. Maintain eye contact. Do not look at them all the time so that they do not feel pressured.
  3. Keep an open posture, do not cross your arms.
  4. Try to speak softly, calmly, and not too loudly.
  5. Make sure the other person feels comfortable during the conversation.

Finally, don’t forget to take care of your mental health. Set an example for your employees.
