Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk participated in the forum “Inclusion and Participation: People with Disabilities at the Center of Humanitarian Response Policy in Time of War”.
Participants discussed ways to improve social protection for people with disabilities, functional limitations, and the elderly, access to health care, administrative services, etc. Participants emphasized the need to involve disability organizations in humanitarian response.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, everyone who needs special support should feel needed.
The head of the Ministry of Reintegration said: “We need to focus on working with organizations that help people with disabilities”.
Among other things, the official called on international organizations to actively help vulnerable populations in the coming year.
In addition, Iryna Vereshchuk suggested that representatives of international organizations should be part of the Civilian Support Coordination Centers established by military authorities throughout Ukraine. This allows them to participate directly in local decision-making.
“I would like to thank the international and non-governmental organizations that continue to support the people of Ukraine and respond promptly to challenges. Together, we will do everything to ensure that people with disabilities do not feel left behind,” concluded the Vice Prime Minister.
