The EU Council website reports that Ukrainians who are escaping the war will continue to receive temporary protection until March 4, 2025.
The decision to extend temporary protection for one year was taken to support the more than 4 million Ukrainian asylum seekers living in the EU.
The EU also emphasizes that under the temporary protection measures, all asylum seekers from Ukraine are guaranteed many rights. Especially things like getting permission to live somewhere, the ability to work, go to school, and get healthcare.
