Since April 2022, the “Shelter” project paid over 2.2 billion UAH in compensation. These funds were spent to pay people who provided temporary shelter to IDPs free of charge.

The program “Shelter” provides compensation of 450 UAH per month for accommodation of an IDP during the warm season and 900 UAH during winter.  Compensation is provided by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS).

This compensation can also be given to tenants of state or city-owned homes, in addition to homeowners or their representatives. Thus, over 3.1 million people who were displaced from their homes have received temporary accommodation through the “Shelter” project.

By October’s end, we plan to provide over 180 million UAH in compensation for the accommodation of IDPs in July-August 2023. We have agreements with URCS to keep going with the “Shelter” program in the first half of 2024.

We want to remind you that the government assigned the Ministry of Reintegration as the responsible authority for carrying out the “Shelter” project.
