Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said this in an interview with the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

According to her: “Last winter, the whole world saw how Russia tried to break the will of the Ukrainians by destroying and disrupting the energy infrastructure.  During the coming cold weather, it will do the same.

“That’s why we need help and support,” the official emphasized, expressing confidence that last year’s experience was useful for Ukrainians.

“Now we know what to do, and we are preparing,” she added.

The Vice Prime Minister noted that in addition to air defense, Ukraine needs long-range missiles capable of hitting supply routes and the rear of russian artillery.  For example, we were able to see the effectiveness of the ATACMS missiles supplied by the United States and used by the defense forces. This is an immediate effect.

“But in addition to the military component, we also need support on the humanitarian front. To take care of people: to help them survive the winter, to make the necessary social payments, pensions, etc. on time. Many of our foreign partners have already expressed their support and willingness to help in this regard,” Iryna Vereshchuk summarized.
