Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk led the meeting, where officials from the Ministry of Reintegration, Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Finance, the Ombudsman’s Office, and NGO representatives also took part.
The gathering was intended to agree on future government policy in support of vulnerable IDPs.
Starting next year, Resolution No. 709 of 11 July 2023 will end accommodation payments for many IDPs. In this context, the Vice Prime Minister is raising the question of the possibility of extending payments to the most vulnerable categories of IDPs.
The meeting attendees have given feedback and recommendations on the draft decision that concerns the Cabinet of Ministers.
“We need to provide targeted government support to the most vulnerable IDPs,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
After the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister instructed the relevant agencies to oversee the document’s final version. Officials and NGO representatives put forward proposals will all be taken into account.
Next week, everyone involved will meet again to discuss further steps to ensure that payments can continue to support vulnerable IDPs.
