This was discussed at a meeting led by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk at the Coordination Centre for IDPs.
Among other things, the attendees discussed approving a list of places of temporary residence of internally displaced persons by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 930 of 01.09.2023.
This document states that the list for the specific region and city of Kyiv must contain all places that IDPs use as temporary residences until 7th September 2023. If they had accommodations for at least 10 individuals available on the day of assessment.
Currently, the Ministry of Reintegration is creating a simplified directory of short-term stay locations using details from the regional and Kyiv city military administrations.
This is relevant as international donors are considering funding repairs to the facilities that will be included in the list of temporary housing for IDPs.
However, at the meeting, MP Maksym Tkachenko, who is the co-chair of the “IDPs of Ukraine” association, mentioned that certain owners (holders of balance sheets) of IDP compact residency places declined to seek inclusion in the temporary residency list. After discussing the issue, the Vice Prime Minister ordered an investigation into the reasons for such refusals.
“We aimed to improve the living conditions for IDPs in temporary housing. So, although these facilities may not currently meet approved standards, we should not close them. In such cases, we need to work together to ensure that temporary housing facilities meet these standards and provide decent living conditions for IDPs,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
