NRC General Secretary Jan Egeland led the Norwegian Refugee Council delegation. He promised his organization would keep working to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war.

The leaders of NRC in Ukraine and Central and Eastern Europe attended the meeting.

They talked about the difficulties faced in aiding people, especially in the de-occupied territories.

As you know, 963 towns and villages across Ukraine are now free from occupation. The Norwegian government has pledged to provide repair kits for housing reconstruction, generators, heating equipment, charging stations, power banks, and computer equipment to support children’s online learning. We also install heating points and equip these areas with Starlink satellite internet terminals.

Additionally, individuals from the liberated settlements and those evacuated will receive a one-time cash payment.

They discussed creating appropriate accommodations for those IDPs in the autumn and winter of 2023-2024.

Temporary shelters are provided, and necessary repairs are carried out to help IDPs through the winter. Additionally, these individuals receive warm blankets, generators, heaters, charging stations, etc.

They also talked about how NRC could be involved in the implementation of the “Shelter” program.
