Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk chaired a special meeting where this case was discussed.
Mobile pharmacies can operate in rural and frontline areas where stationary pharmacies are unavailable or have been destroyed. These pharmacies will also operate in frontline areas where medical and pharmacy infrastructure has been significantly destroyed.
The focus was on obtaining a license for Ukrposhta to sell medicines. Only licensed companies can set up mobile pharmacies.
Granting the postal operator this right will help solve the problem of affordable medicines throughout 100% of Ukraine by the first half of 2024.
If this initiative is implemented:
- Ukrposhta plans to open licensed warehouses at key sorting facilities in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Khmelnytsky. This will allow for the next-day delivery of medicines to any location in the country;
- Ukrposhta will ensure a stock of 10,000 medicines;
- Integrate with the ‘Affordable Medicines’ program.
Mobile pharmacies will follow the same rules for dispensing medication as stationary pharmacies. Prescription drugs will only be dispensed if a valid prescription is available.
