Since August 2022, Ukrainian defenders in captivity have sent 2,760 letters to their families, while loved ones of prisoners have sent 6,808 letters to Ukraine.
Article 71 of the Geneva Convention guarantees correspondence for prisoners of war.
The National Information Bureau, which operates under the Ministry of Reintegration, developed the rules for writing correspondence.
The International Committee of the Red Cross organizes the delivery of letters in both directions for confirmed prisoners of war.
