The European Union Council has extended the restrictions for six months – until July 31, 2024. The EU Council website reports.
The sanctions include restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transportation, and luxury goods.
They also include:
– The EU has banned the import and maritime transportation of crude oil and certain oil products from russia;
– Several russian banks have been disconnected from the international SWIFT system;
– Several kremlin-backed disinformation media outlets had their broadcasting activities and licenses terminated.
The statement indicated that sanctions will continue while russia violates the prohibition on the use of force and disregards international law. Additional measures may be taken against the aggressor if necessary.
