The Council of the European Union has extended the restrictions until February 2025, as reported in the Official Journal of the EU.

In response to russia’s illegal actions, which violate the prohibition on the use of force and disregard international law, this decision was made.

The EU Council has decided to extend the previously adopted restrictions for another 12 months until February 24, 2025.

In February 2022, sanctions were imposed on russia due to their full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In response to russia’s recognition of the occupied districts of Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and the deployment of armed forces in these areas, their operation’s geography was subsequently expanded.

If needed, the EU Council can apply extra measures, according to the document.
