The Ministry of Reintegration, with the Ukrainian Child Rights Network, facilitated Ilya’s return to the government-controlled territory.   

The boy and his grandmother visited another grandmother in the Zaporizhzhia region on the eve of the full-scale invasion.

The mother of the boy, who has a disability, was unable to go and get her son.

Ilya’s grandfather requested assistance from the Ministry of Reintegration in early March 2024 to remove his grandson from the temporarily occupied area of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Thanks to the grandfather’s appeal, the specialists of the Way Home project, along with the Ministry of Reintegration team, found a way to bring the teenager home.
