The topic was brought to the attention of Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk during an exclusive meeting. The focus of the discussion was the education system in Poland for the Ukrainian community.

The Ministry of Education and the Ukrainian Institute for Education Development have created programs for studying the Ukrainian language, literature, history, and geography in secondary school.

Please be advised that the relevant methodological recommendations for the Ukrainian language have already been posted on the MES website. The guidelines for the other three subjects were developed later, so an order for their approval is currently being prepared.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of developing programs in Ukrainian as a foreign language.

The Vice Prime Minister has directed the relevant agency to establish a working group to accelerate the approval of programs with a Ukrainian studies component. In addition, the agency is to consult with representatives of educational institutions in Poland on the specifics of such programs.

They also talked about needing textbooks. The head of the Ministry of Reintegration will work with the Ministry of Education and Science to get money from international partners for textbooks.

“On September 1, thousands of Ukrainian children abroad will attend school. They need to know how they will receive an education. That is why we must resolve these issues as quickly as possible,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
