The train crew has already prepared 170,000 meals to support the population of the region, as stated in the Telegram channel of Ukrzaliznytsia.
The meals were distributed in collaboration with local authorities to hospitals, temporary accommodation for those displaced by the crisis, and residents of remote areas most severely affected by the power outages.
In addition, the kitchen train team gave a tour of the train to 24 pupils of the Kharkiv Children’s Railway. Under the guidance of the chefs, the little Kharkiv residents prepared their lunches and received small gifts as souvenirs.
The Howard G. Buffett Foundation supports Food Train’s work in the Kharkiv region.
The kitchen train was sent to this region at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the mandatory evacuation of the population under martial law, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
