It is often the case that individuals present only the most positive aspects of their lives on social media. However, it is important to recognize that reality is not always as it appears online.

In times of conflict, the discrepancy between what is conveyed on social media and the actual situation on the ground becomes more pronounced, potentially influencing the perception of events.

Experts from the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, “How are you?” initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, offer guidance on navigating social media during the war.

In particular, it is recommended:

  • Don’t overdo negative news. It can cause people to relive traumatic experiences.
  • Be careful what you share online. What’s offensive to one person may be understandable to another.

Social media lets you provide emotional support from a distance.
