The presentation was at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons, chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The IDP Council at the Rivne Regional Military Administration has 24 members.

The Council has held seven meetings and many working sessions since it was set up in September 2023. They discussed the needs of people who have been forced to leave their homes.

In 2024, the IDP Council will implement the following strategies:

  1. Helping internally displaced persons through activities involving them and the local community.
  2. The objective is to enhance the capacity of IDPs of all ages and genders in the Rivne City Territorial Community. This includes those who arrived in 2014-2015 and those who were displaced by the full-scale invasion in 2022.
  3. Comprehensive information for IDPs.

During its work, the Council received over 70 requests from internally displaced persons. These included clarification of tax legislation, the exercise of the rights of Ukrainians abroad, and the resolution of housing issues. Today, IDPs’ requests have changed significantly, moving from individual, local assistance to employment-oriented requests.

The IDP Council runs social and cultural events to help IDPs integrate into the Rivne region.

“Thank you for helping our new refugees. It’s important you can help them and advise them on how to adapt,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
