The ceremony took place today, June 5, in the Government Building.
Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk and members of the Alliance of Ukrainian Civil Society Organizations signed the document.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine, Denise Brown, the Head of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine, Claudia Amaral, and representatives of embassies were also in attendance.
The Memorandum’s objective is to reinforce local leadership, elevate the role of Ukrainian civil society in the international humanitarian response system, mitigate the adverse effects of humanitarian crises, and pave the way for effective recovery in Ukraine.
We are discussing collaboration within the context of the implementation of the “Strategy for Ensuring Local Leadership in Responding to Humanitarian Crises and Laying the Foundation for Ukraine’s Effective Recovery.”
The main areas of cooperation are institutional, normative, and advocacy work in the field of humanitarian response.
“Signing this Memorandum will help civil society and the state work together on humanitarian response in Ukraine. It will also help localize support, which is important for helping war-affected communities. Together we can do more,” said Iryna Vereshchuk.
The Memorandum was signed by 16 organizations of the Alliance. The Right to Protection Charitable Foundation, the National Network for the Development of Local Philanthropy, Helping to Leave, Philanthropy in Ukraine, the Red Cross Society of Ukraine, Proliska, the Charitable Organization “Vostok-SOS,” the NGO Resource Center for Non-Governmental Organizations, and the International Charitable Organization ” The following organizations have also signed the Memorandum: Eastern Europe Foundation; Charitable Organization “Charitable Foundation “Smilіvі”; International Charitable Foundation “Caritas Ukraine”; Charitable Foundation “Tvoya Opora”; NGO “ISAR Ednannya”; NGO “Divachi”; Charitable Organization “Ukrainian Educational Platform”; NGO “KRIMSOS”.
