Due to the construction of fortifications in the border areas of the Kharkiv region, some land plots are currently inaccessible to their owners. However, they continue to be subject to taxation.

This issue came up during meetings on humanitarian response in the Kharkiv region, which were chaired by Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

To fix this, the Ministry of Reintegration, along with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, and the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, came up with a plan. It says that if you own land with fortifications on it or could have them on it, you won’t have to pay land tax.

This will take into account the decisions of the Kharkiv Oblast Defense Council and in line with the decisions of local councils on tax exemptions.

The Defense Council of the Kharkiv region will approve the list of plots where defense facilities are being built and send it on to local councils. They’ll decide on tax benefits and send this to the State Tax Service.

Iryna Vereshchuk told the stakeholders to get on with it and work out the tax exemption for the owners of such land plots using the agreed algorithm of actions.
