Today, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution on supporting asylum seekers and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

56 PACE delegates approved the document.

The Parliamentary Assembly came up with a few ideas to help IDPs in Ukraine. They want to make sure that people get the help they need as soon as possible, especially families and children who have been forced to leave their homes.

Programs to support IDPs should also include financial assistance to help them access social housing and loans for the reconstruction of private housing. This could take the form of microfinance or low-interest credit lines.

So, for Ukrainian asylum seekers who are getting temporary protection in Europe, EU member states have to let them stay and protect them.

The document also points out that it’s important to work together to help Ukrainian citizens, including children, who were deported or forced to leave Ukraine and go to russia or belarus.
