The European Commission’s press service announced that the agreement between 22 European and 7 Ukrainian telecom operators has been extended, which makes this possible.
The signatory operators offer cheaper mobile services because they must reduce their cross-border call prices.
It lets EU mobile operators keep offering free SIM cards and monthly packages to Ukrainian asylum seekers in the host country. It also lets them provide free international calls to Ukraine.
Ukrainian telecom operators can provide free or reduced roaming for calls from Ukraine to EU countries.
The list of mobile operators that have signed the agreement is available here.
On June 17, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law with the EU allowing Ukrainians to use one price for mobile and internet in 27 EU countries. This will start after the end of martial law.
