This is about Order No. 850 from June 13, 2024, which outlines the procedure and conditions for obtaining general secondary education in municipal general secondary education institutions under martial law in Ukraine.
A meeting was held to discuss this. Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk led the meeting, and Oksen Lisovyi, the Minister of Education and Science, and other government officials and non-governmental organization (NGO) representatives were present.
The order said that most general secondary education should be full-time.
The meeting participants said distance learning should be available for TOT students.
Educational institutions from TOT were allowed to open distance classes for students from TOT.
After the meeting, a working group was formed to create a new draft order. It will address the reality in occupied and frontline territories and the educational needs of displaced children.
The new order will ensure that children from TOT can still access the Ukrainian education system.
The document will also help keep teachers in their jobs. Many educators work in schools where students learn remotely. Other suggestions from the meeting will be considered.
The group will include MPs, NGO representatives, and the Association of Ukrainian Cities. All proposals will be sent to the Ministry of Education and Science.
