Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, and other officials were present at the event.

The topic was energy recovery for the 2024/2025 autumn-winter period.

Iryna Vereshchuk thanked UNHCR, Filippo Grandi, the British government, and all international partners for supporting Ukraine in the most difficult areas. They are with the Kharkiv region and the whole of Ukraine today.

The meeting covered the damage to the energy infrastructure in the region caused by russian shelling and plans to restore it. It also discussed preparations for the next heating season, measures to decentralize electricity supply, and ensuring the energy independence of critical infrastructure in Kharkiv.

The meeting also discussed the UNICEF winterization program.

They talked about helping to fix the heat and power in the Kharkiv region. Some international groups said they would help pay for and buy the needed energy equipment.

The Kharkiv region is gearing up for winter, and it’s crucial for us that the international community lends a hand. There are almost half a million people who’ve been forced to leave their homes there. It’s the front line. The people and communities there are under a lot of stress every day. But they’re holding on, living and fighting. So we’ll do everything we can to support the Kharkiv region during this difficult period. I’d be grateful if we could work with international partners to take concrete steps together,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
