Tia is from Makiivka, Donetsk Oblast.

The volunteer organization Helping to Leave told her story of returning to government-controlled Ukraine.

Tia had no Ukrainian ID. In fall 2023, she asked a volunteer group for help.

The girl made it through her tough journey in 5 days. She took the bus, and train, and hiked.

Tia took a few things and a cat and now they live together in Kharkiv.

At her new place, the girl got the help she needed. Volunteers helped her find a job, get over difficulties, and adapt.

The girl thanks everyone who helped her start a new life.
