Financial assistance will be provided through a project of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), which commenced operations in August 2023.
By the legislation, pensioners with low pensions residing in regions experiencing active or potential hostilities may be eligible for financial assistance through pension supplementation.
Throughout the humanitarian project, more than 360,000 pensioners have received payments. Finland’s contribution has enabled the WFP to extend the program until the end of 2024.
Since the outset of the full-scale war, Finland has provided 11 million euros in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through the World Food Programme (WFP). Of this amount, 8 million euros has been allocated to food aid for those in frontline areas and financial support for vulnerable groups, while a further 1 million euros has been earmarked for the demining of agricultural land in the Kharkiv region.
